The Call
The Call
By Courtney Mary Thaler
Hopeless and full of fear,
That night he buried his head,
The sheets balled up,
The softness dampened with tears,
He couldn’t take it anymore,
Clothed in what could have been,
She wandered the halls,
Crying out “a lifetime dream, gone in one night”
How could this be,
This wasn’t how it was supposed to turn out,
Disguised in tradition,
A people bound by lies,
A earnest yearning for something,
Who will share the Way,
Who can set them free,
These lives full of despair,
Lost without hope, with no where to turn,
They had been to an altar,
Accepted the lord,
But yet the tears still fell,
No comfort was given,
There had to be something more,
There just had to be something more,
That fateful night,
With his voice smothered,
He cried out to the Lord,
In fear of eternity,
He cried out for help,
On that Sunday morning,
Without any comfort,
She cried out,
“This couldn’t be it,”
“There has to be something more,”
She didn’t know but her voice was heard,
Two hurting souls,
Who needed more,
The Lord heard their cry,
And sent witness to show them,
Truth was given and received,
One glorious night God gave her a new dream,
What a testimony for this boy to see,
When God filled him with His spirit,
He filled with “The Call”,
Through the years He served his God,
He did the work he was to do,
But in the back of every prayer,
There was “The Call”
One call for a nation,
For a people bound in tradition,
This call was so much more,
That man waited and worked,
He worked and waited,
Until his call was turned into the sending,
A people bound and lost,
Were sent a couple to show them the Way,
The Way, the Truth, and the Light,
They showed them Jesus,
One invitation,
One simple invitation,
Turned into a call,
A call to reach a people,
Who are you supposed to invite?
What call should you answer?
This poem was inspired by two dear missionaries that come visit our church often. They truly answered the call. I wonder daily if I have taken the time to answer the call. We are surrounded by people who are hurting and in need of truth, when will we take the time to answer the call?
